Most pet rabbits can learn to become litter pan trained just like a cat. It is simpler than most people would consider. Try the following steps for successful bunny training:
- Choose a rabbit litter pan that will fit through the door of your hutch or cage
- Watch for several days until your bunny picks a favorite corner of the hutch or cage to go “potty”!
- Put the litter pan (get a corner style pan) in that corner
- Line the pan with newspaper and fill it with recycled newspaper litter pellets or any commercially available small animal litter made for this purpose
- Clean the litter pan daily to reduce odors and keep your hutch or cage fresh! Rabbits are clean animals by nature and will try to keep their homes clean
- Get a Rabbit Litter Scoop - Cat Pan Litter Scoops do not fit in the corners
- Secure the pan to the corner of the cage or hutch if your Bunny tries to move it around. A wire paper clip works fine, as long as there are no sharp edges when you're finished that could hurt your Bunny!
